LTH Supply

Description:

Indicator Overview

The indicator tracks the total volume of Bitcoin (measured in BTC) held by Long-Term Holders (LTHs). Long-Term Holders are defined as wallets holding coins that were last moved more than 155 days ago. This group represents the less emotional, resilient core of the market, as their cost basis is typically much lower and less sensitive to short-term price movements. The supply is often measured in millions of BTC.

How To Use

LTH Supply is a key metric for identifying the major phases of a market cycle by observing the transfer of coins between the strong-handed and weak-handed. When LTH Supply begins to decline rapidly, it signals that long-term investors are distributing (selling) their coins to new speculative buyers (STHs). This large transfer of coins from strong to weak hands typically aligns with major market tops. Conversely, when LTH Supply is rising consistently, it signals that coins are aging and being accumulated by resilient holders who are unwilling to sell. This accumulation phase often coincides with cycle bottoms and low-risk accumulation zones.
