Indicator Overview

The Portfolio DCA Calculator is a dynamic investment modelling tool designed to simulate the performance of a Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) strategy. Instead of trying to time the market, this tool calculates the impact of consistent, scheduled investments into cryptos (e.g. BTC, ETH), stocks (e.g. NVDA, TSLA), or complex multi-asset baskets over time.

The chart visualises the Portfolio Value using a high-conviction green gradient. The color intensity shifts dynamically based on the specific growth range of your calculation, allowing you to visually track capital expansion and the compounding effect of disciplined accumulation.

How To Use

The calculator is used to backtest accumulation strategies and understand the relationship between consistency, entry prices, and long-term wealth generation across different asset classes.

• Customising the Strategy: Use the controls to adjust your Ticker, Start Date, DCA Amount, and Frequency (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly). Clicking "Update" recomputes the entire history based on exact historical closing prices.

• Creating a Portfolio: Toggle the "Create Portfolio" button to move beyond single-asset analysis. This allows you to construct a custom basket of up to 10 different assets.

• Balancing Allocations: In portfolio mode, you must assign a percentage weight to each asset. A built-in validator will alert you with a red warning if your total allocations are above or below 100%, ensuring the model remains mathematically sound.

• Understanding the Stats:

1. Total Invested: The raw sum of all fiat capital contributed to the plan over the selected timeframe.

2. Portfolio Value: The current market value of all accumulated units (or the combined portfolio value) at the end of the period.

3. Avg Cost Per Unit: In single-asset mode, this displays the average price paid per unit. This metric is hidden in portfolio mode to focus on aggregate capital growth.

4. CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate): This provides the smoothed annual return of the strategy, allowing you to compare your DCA performance against traditional benchmarks like the S&P 500
