Indicator Overview

The SOL vs. BTC Relative Performance Ratio (RPR) indicator measures Solana’s performance relative to Bitcoin by normalising price changes from a dynamic starting point and applying user-selectable smoothing (SMA or EMA over 5–20 days). The resulting ratio line is coloured on a dual gradient, purple shades intensifying above 1.0 (SOL outperformance) and orange shades intensifying below 1.0 (BTC outperformance), with filled area anchored to the parity line (1.0) for visual emphasis on leadership shifts between Bitcoin and this high-performance layer-1 competitor.

How To Use

Values significantly above 1.0 signal Solana strength and outperformance, typically during risk-on environments, narrative-driven rallies (e.g., meme coin frenzy, DeFi migration, ecosystem growth), and aggressive capital rotation out of Bitcoin into SOL, while values markedly below 1.0 reflect Bitcoin dominance, often in deleveraging phases or when Solana faces network concerns or broader altcoin weakness. Divergences, such as Bitcoin price advancing while RPR falls, reinforce BTC leadership, whereas RPR rising sharply alongside or ahead of SOL price signals weakening BTC dominance and potential explosive SOL/BTC upside. Traders track breaks above prior highs for SOL/BTC momentum confirmation or drops below key supports as warnings of reversion to BTC strength, aiding precise pair trading, risk appetite assessment, and timing of high-beta altcoin cycles within the broader crypto market.
